From Sunday, 14th April to Friday, 19th April, 25 year 9 students explored our EU partner country Lithuania. None of the students had ever been there before, so travelling to Vilnius on a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt was quite an experience in itself. After a three-hour visit to the capital city, guided by the students themselves, the group moved on to Kaunas, our final destination.
The week was filled with exciting activities, planned by our Erasmus+ partner school, LSMU gimnazija in Kaunas. We learned a lot about Lithuanian music, dance and culture, but also about working and studying in a foreign country. The German students took part in a fair of various student start-ups. Also, the hosts had organized a visit to the radiology department of the university hospital in order for us to get an insight into the job of a radiologist. We also paid a visit to the Technical University of Kaunas where former Erasmus+ students spoke about their experiences during their Erasmus year abroad. In their concluding remarks, there was one thing that all of us will remember from now on: “There is a life before Erasmus and their is a life after Erasmus”. All of them concluded that the Erasmus experience had truly changed their lives!
