“Morgen irgendwo am Meer”

“Morgen irgendwo am Meer”

On June 6, we, i.e. Ms. Block’s advanced course together with Ms. Haubold and Kleine, Mr. von Melle and their students, went to the cinema in Bad Godesberg to watch the film “Morgen irgendwo am Meer”, which is based on Adriana Popescu’s novel of the same title. The movie adaptation was directed by Patrick Büchting, which is especially interesting because this very same director also attended Friedrich-Ebert-Gymnasium as one of the above-mentioned teachers’ pupils.

Not only did we have the amazing opportunity to watch the movie before the premiere but also to meet the director and one of the main actresses, Sophia Münster, to discuss the movie. We talked about scenes they enjoyed most, difficulties they had on set, new experiences they have made as an actress and as a director, and the whole process of making the film. Patrick Büchting was also happy to fill us in on his time as a student at FEG and shared with us in which ways our school had an impact on his career.

After talking to Patrick Büchting and Sophia Münster and taking a few pictures together, we all had the impression that they are very nice, open and generous people.

The coming-of-age movie shows the story of four teenagers taking a road trip and visiting different European cities. Throughout their trip, they all have to face their own personal conflicts, whether that means choosing a career or reconciling with family members or even with each other. In the course of the movie, every single one of the teenagers’ moving biographies is gradually revealed.

To us, the movie has been strongly relatable, as we are all going to finish school next year and might end up in a similar situation.

We rate this movie as truly enjoyable and after having discussed it with people who actually took part in the filmmaking, we could also reflect it from another perspective and could appreciate a whole bunch of small new details.

A huge thank you to Patrick Büchting and Sophia Münster!
